Licensed of course by the Pilots Federation, I’ve been flying around the core star systems here, also known as “the bubble” most of the time but there’s a few times now that I’ve ventured out into “the black”, interstellar space outside the bubble. Mainly, I go out there to do cartography and exobiology runs.
Ships can only make interstellar jumps across so much space at any given time, so how does one go out further, faster? The neutron highway, as it’s called. Neutron stars spew out energy at their poles, and this energy can be used by ships to jump across 4 times as much space.
My main ship is a shiny red new Mandalay I got recently to replace the Asp Explorer (or AspX) and Diamondback Explorer (DBX). It’s the ship I use for exploration and science, seeing as how it’s jump range is ~74Ly. I can’t wait to take it out all around the galaxy on long expeditions!
You might notice the scar going across my eye area… There’s a big story to be told here, but I’ll get into that some other time. It’s a story of how I became partially android. The digital parts of me enable some neat abilities too.
